Top Amazon Prime Day Picks for Toddler Travel

Top Amazon Prime Day Picks for Toddler Travel

Hey Traveling Families!

As a mom who loves exploring the globe with our little adventurers, I know firsthand the joys and challenges of traveling with kids. That's why I'm thrilled to share some insider tips with you today! Amazon Prime Day is here, and let me tell you, it's a goldmine for savvy parents looking to enhance their travel experiences.

When it comes to traveling with babies and toddlers, I’ve done it all. Long-haul flight from Amsterdam to Los Angeles with our six-month old - check. Short-haul flight Los Angeles to Denver with our toddler (while 8-months pregnant with his baby brother) - check. Long-haul flight from Paris to Los Angeles solo with our two year old and our baby - check. My husband travels to Europe for work a few times a year, so we like to arrange a family trip before or after one of his business trips, which leaves me (proudly) traveling solo with the kids one way most of the time. It is totally doable and can actually be enjoyable if you are prepared (and have the right attitude)! Just remember, it is at worst a dozen or so challenging hours, and then you get to enjoy the new tastes, smells, sounds, and sights of the destination you’ve been dreaming of, with the added pleasure of experiencing it all through your little one’s eyes.

Here are some of my top tips and corresponding Amazon Prime Day deals for traveling with babies and toddlers:

  • Bring a stroller to gate check, so you can roll your kids and small carry-ons all the way up to the plane and the stroller will be delivered back to you on the jet-bridge, not baggage claim. The Baby Jogger and Mompush are great, affordable options for travel.

  • Pack lots of snacks! These non-spill snack containers and cups that can hook an our bag are a hit.

  • Bring some plane-friendly gadgets. These suction cup spinners and building blocks provided a solid 20 minutes of distraction. The building blocks were fun to have for the whole trip, not just on the plane. This baby cell phone is a great pinch-hitter to bring out when you need to avoid a meltdown.

  • Buy a kid-friendly tablet and durable cover, and load it up with books, shows, and drawing apps. This tablet is the perfect size for kids and such a great price point! In our house, our exceptions to the general no-screens rule is when the kids are sick or when we are traveling a long way.

  • These wireless headphones worked great and were comfortably worn by both boys.

  • Take an overnight flight so the kids will be more likely to sleep for a few hours. We thought these inflatable seat extenders worked very well to turn our economy seats into lie-flat beds for the kids.

  • Even on a plane, we found our portable sound machine to be key in drowning out the noise from other kids and the food and beverage cart.

  • If you’re traveling with a baby, call the airline after booking your tickets to see if you can be reserved for the seats next to the bassinet. It’s basically a little baby bed that attaches to the bulk head and has a seatbelt you can strap around your baby while they are laying down resting or sleeping.

  • I also highly recommend the Nanit baby monitor and its travel stand. It connects to an app on your phone, so you can watch it from wherever you are so long as you have cell service or wifi. This way, once you’ve arrived at your destination, you can easily set up your monitor at your rental home or hotel, and can check in on baby while you’re sunbathing on your balcony during nap time or when you’ve hired a babysitter for an adults-only adventure.

I hope this helps! Leave a comment if you have any questions or tips I’ve missed.
